Social media platforms are constantly rolling out updates– so it’s easy for notifications to fall through the cracks. If you missed it, Instagram stories has released it’s new hands-free feature. This feature eliminates the need to stop and start so frequently, so you can create longer videos with less interruption! Here’s how it works:
Step 1: Open Instagram stories.
Go to the bottom of your screen where you can scroll between selections like Live, Normal, Boomerang, etc. If you keep scrolling to the right, you’ll see ‘hands-free’ towards the end. Once you’ve selected hands-free, you’ll have the option to add filters and stickers before you start filming (which we highly recommend doing).
Step 2: Record!
This would be the time to get your tripod ready or get your phone in a solid position to film. Then press record, and you’re off! Important Note: If you’re filming videos that are more than a minute long, switch to ‘live’ video instead. The hands-free feature does still hold you to the one-minute time limit, so choose Live if you want to keep streaming and don’t want to hold down the button.
Step 3: Repeat.
Every 24 hours, your stories will expire (all the more reason to make more)! If you do want to keep your video to repurpose later, you’ll have the option to save the video to your camera roll.
Instagram stories are a great tool for tutorials, behind the scenes action, Q&A’s, takeovers and so much more. The hands-free feature will allow you to express your creativity without the fear of being on a time crunch.
