I love this cute woodland fairy look on little Charlie.  She is sporting an easy faux fishtail hairstyle.  This flip fishtail is so easy and it would make a great DIY hairdo anyone could do.I am drawn to boho hairstyles.  They are so beautiful and remind me of summer.  This is a good hairstyle to add summer flowers to play up your boho look.To see your own photo recreations of this style featured in our app, feel free to tag your photos on IG with: #CGHFlipFauxFishtail

Items Needed: Brush, rat-tail comb, spray bottle, hair elastics, cute butterfly clips, hairspray {if desired}.

Time Requirement: 3-5 minutes

Skill Level: Easy

Step-By-Step Instructions:

  1. Start by parting your hair to one side.
  2. Pick up a medium size section of hair from the top of the heavy side.  From the front going back a few inches.  Secure the section with a small elastic.
  3. Just above your elastic, split the hair in the middle.  Reach up from underneath the whole you just created, flip the ponytail up and down through the hole.  (This is a flip)
  4. Tug on the outsides of your flip loops a bit to create volume. This also adds to the soft boho look.
  5. Pick up a small section of new hair just below your first section.  Leave heavy wispies out in the front if desired. Combine with your ponytail and secure with a small elastic.
  6. Repeat the “flip” process and tug on the sides of your loops to create volume.  (If you have a topsy tail tool you may want to use at this point.) Try to slightly angle your faux braid down and toward the back.
  7. Repeat the ponytail and flip steps two more times for a total of 4 ponytails and flips.
  8. At this point you can leave the hairstyle as is OR add a small elastic to your ponytail about 2 inches below your last elastic.
  9. Now flip your ponytail in between the two elastics.  Pancake the edges.
  10. Continue this process until you run out of hair.
  11. Add loose curls to the remaining hair to complete your boho look.
  12. Extra Cuteness:  add flowers or butterflies to your braid.
