Twist Back Messy Bun

We are always looking for cute updo hairstyles.  I love this DIY combo hairstyle of twist-backs and messy bun!  It is the perfect combo of soft feminine and everyday messy.

It can be dressed up or down, worn everyday or for special occasions.  I’m thinking this would be perfect for that summer wedding you’re invited to!

Items Needed: Brush, rat-tail comb, spray bottle, 2 hair elastics, hairspray {if desired}.

Time Requirement: 3-5 minutes

Skill Level: Medium

• Start by gathering a small section of hair on the heavy side of your part.
• Divide that section into two pieces and begin your twist by bringing the bottom piece up over the top piece.
• Now you will pick up a new section of hair in the front and add to the bottom section.
• Next pick up a new piece of hair on the top and add to the top piece/section of hair.
• Now twist the bottom/front section up and over the top/back section and you have your first twist.
• Repeat steps 3-5 all the way to the bottom. (See video for more details)
• Once you reach the nape of your neck, use a small elastic to secure your twist.
• Pull and loosen your twist to make it look full and voluminous. Add a little hairspray if desired.
• Repeat the same twist-back on the other side of your hair.
• When you reach the nape of your neck on the second twist you will secure with a small elastic and combine the two twists into one ponytail.
• Next you just create a messy bun and add any desired hairspray.
