Everyone is always asking for hairstyles that can be worn for sports, or anything athletic. The activities range from soccer, cheer, dance, gymnastics, softball, track, etc.

Well, I am a huge Lulu Lemon fan, and follow the company account on Instagram. This past week I saw this hairstyle pop up on my Instagram feed, so I just had to learn it and teach all of you!

The Run Braid Combo | Hairstyles for Sports

If you know how to create French and simple braids, then you really are good to go for this hairstyle! It is one that will keep the hair pulled out of your face, and off of your neck during those practices and games.

This hairstyle does not have to be limited to sports, though. Dressed with a cute t-shirt, jeans, and sneakers, would look adorable, too!

We are calling this a combo because you are combining several different braids into the hairstyle… French, simple, and rope. You can swap out any of these, and make several other beautiful combinations using Dutch, Lace, or Fishtail braids!

This hair style happens to be one of Brooklyn’s favorite braids right now, and leads to absolutely gorgeous 2nd-Day Curls the next day!

Items Needed: Brush, rat-tail comb, spray bottle, 1 ponytail holder, 3 small hair elastics, spray wax or hairspray {if desired}.

Time Requirement: 7-10 minutes

Skill Level: Medium

Step-by-Step Instructions:

  1. Begin with wet or dry hair.
  2. At the very front of the head begin a French braid. Continue to add in hair to the French braid until you reach the ears.
  3. Stop adding in hair at this point and finish with a regular braid.
  4. Flip that braid up and out of the way.
  5. Gather up the remaining hair into a high ponytail.
  6. Before securing with an elastic, add the original braid into the ponytail as well and secure it along with the hair.
  7. Now flip the original braid out of the way again.
  8. Divide the remaining hair into three even sections.
  9. Braid each section and secure with elastics.
  10. Now place two braids in each hand.
  11. Twist the braids around each other until you run out of hair.
  12. Secure the hair together with an elastic.
  13. Remove the original elastics so there is only the one holding them all together.
