Hello! We are so happy to be back today. We are Jen and Jodie from Eighteen25 and we are excited to share a fun new crafts with you.  Jodie’s oldest daughter Quincy has a special love for dogs.  She is constantly sending her Mom pictures of dogs she wants to bring home and take care of.  The sad part is that her sister is extremely allergic and there’s no way that having a dog in the house will work.  So Quincy is left with a broken heart… it’s really so sad.  Since a real live puppy dog isn’t possible we try to spoil her with all the puppy dog stuff we can find.  She even has an adorable dog painted on her bedroom wall.  With her in mind we decided to make these fun DIY Puppy Dog Trinket Boxes. (And she’s in love with them!)

  • Little Paper Mache Boxes
  • Plastic Dogs
  • E6000 Glue
  • Paint and a Paintbrush. We used a lot of colors so we’ll add the colors under the pictures to try not to confuse anyone.

Puppy Dog Trinket Boxes | DIY and Craft IdeasUsing the E6000 glue, glue your dogs to the lids of your boxes and then let those dry for about an hour.  For the bottoms of the boxes we used regular acrylic paint that you can pick up at any craft store.  It comes in every color imaginable so you have plenty of options.  Once you’ve done the hard part of choosing your colors, go ahead and paint the bottoms of your boxes.

Next you’ll want to spray paint your tops with your dogs.  It will take a good 4-5 light coats to get everything covered.  Try and give them plenty of time in between coats to completely dry.  Once everything has been painted let it sit for at least 24 hours to dry.  If you don’t wait long enough the paint will stick to the other parts of the box when you put the lid on and then you’ll have to do some touch up work.  So just be patient. 🙂

Puppy Dog Trinket Boxes | DIY Aren’t they just so cute?  The little plastic animals come in so many different types at Michaels Craft Stores. Dinosaurs, farm animals, cats and so many others.  So if your kids are not puppy lovers, I’m sure they have whatever they are into at the moment.
